La Cueva soccer forfeits week 1 win

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The La Cueva Bears defeated Rio Rancho 35-14 throughout the first week of the highschool soccer season. That win is now within the books as a loss for the Bears and a win for the Rams, as La Cueva has forfeited the sport on account of an ineligible participant.

Whereas Head Coach and Athletic Director Brandon Again didn’t disclose who the participant was, the problem got here all the way down to a participant who transferred into La Cueva’s district from one other neighboring college within the metropolis.

“It was an entire mess up on my half because the athletic director,” mentioned Again. “I didn’t have the paperwork full like I wanted to. I assumed he was in a bona fide residence change scenario, and it ended up not being that case.”

Shifting ahead, the participant can not play on the varsity stage this season. He can play on the junior varsity stage and can be eligible for varsity subsequent 12 months.

Now, with the forfeit, La Cueva’s document sits at 0-2 and Rio Rancho’s sits at 2-0. This week, the Bears play on the highway at Centennial on Saturday and the Rams are on the highway at El Paso Eastlake on Friday.
