Males’s Golf Cruises To Opening Match Victory – Minnesota State College

FARIBAULT, Minn.. —  The Minnesota State males’s golf crew shot a 291-278—569 en path to working away with the 2023 Maverick Invite Championship performed on the Faribault Golf Membership.  The Mavericks completed 17 photographs forward of Hastings Faculty which posted a 288-298—586. 

The Mavericks had been paced by senior Ben Laffen who shot a 72-69—141 to complete second.  Laffen’s spherical in the present day featured 5 birdies as he performed the 4 par-five holes to 3 below par. 

Sophomores Marcus Belka and Max Brud together with senior Jack Klimek all tied for third with a 142.  Belka turned in a 73-69, whereas Brud shot a 71-17- and Klimek shot a 72-70.  Belka recorded 4 birdies, together with three on par-fives, whereas Klimek recorded three birdies and an eagle as he closed his spherical with a 3 on the 18th.  Brud – who performed on the “B-Squad” within the occasion turned in seven birdies on the day.

“I am extremely happy with how our guys grinded in the present day,” mentioned Minnesota State Director of Golf Alex Schmitz.  “We had stable play all over our roster and I am excited to construct on this success.”

Freshman Jack Schraderwho was in second after the opening day with a 70 – completed the occasion with a 70-73—143, good for sixth.  Shrader recorded a pair of eagles on the ninth over the occasion and in addition turned in six birdies.  Fellow freshman

Karson Patten shot a 80-71—151.  Patten’s second day included 5 birdies. 

Junior Alex Bradley rounded out the “A” crew scoring with a 74-70 thanks partly to 4 birdies and an eagle on the par-five ninth gap, good for seventh.

Sophomore Ryan Darling (72-78—150) and senior Kaleb Johnson (78-72—150) had been tied for 11th whereas freshman Karson Patten (80-71—151) was tied for 13.  Rounding out the top-20 finishers for Minnesota State was senior Terry Kuhn who shot a 78-75—153.

Gabriel Escalera of Hastings Faculty earned medalist honors after recording a 68-69—137 good for seven-under par. 

Minnesota State returns to motion Sept. 11-12 when it travels to the Bemidji State Invitational on the Bemidji City & Nation Membership.
